History:

Genius Notes began operations at Louisiana State University (LSU) in January of 2005. Owned and operated by Ryan J. Lipps and Blake Taelman, Genius Notes found great success operating solely through its website, www.GeniusNotes.com, and a partnership with FedEx Kinko’s. After a successful Spring semester at LSU and due to quickly growing revenues and profits, Genius Notes began plans for expansion to the The University of Texas at Austin (UT) and Arizona State University (ASU). With the help of our strong working relationship with FedEx Kinko’s, we quickly found success in both markets. Unfortunately, in the Fall of 2005, Hurricane Katrina wreaked havoc on the Gulf Coast, ultimately shutting down LSU for several weeks causing Blake and Ryan to re-evaluate the feasability of continuing operations. Both Blake and Ryan eventually decided to suspend all operations and focus their time and energy on finishing their college degrees at the University of Florida.

Genius Notes hired students with GPAs of 3.8 and above to take notes for large lecture style classes. These notes were then edited, formatted, and packaged into a copy-protected PDF. These PDFs were then available for a single-computer licensed download, or pickup in a hard-copy format from a local FedEx Kinko’s at a premium. All sales were conducted through the Genius Notes website, www.GeniusNotes.com.
